Here are some easy ways to bring ayurvedic practices to your daily routine. Summer's sun and heat can cause the fiery Pitta dosha to become more dominant in all of us. Cool down this summer by practicing moderation in all aspects of life.

Coolness is key to maintaining a sense of moderation, keep your bedroom cool at night and use a cool compress on the back of your neck.

Balance periods of rest and activity. Take time to wind down after any activity. Decrease your level of stimulation and tap into your inner island of calm.

Take time to appreciate the natural beauty of the season - look at the sunset, watch a full moon, spend time near lakes and running water.

Eat small meals throughout the day to maintain your energy level without going to extremes. Include cooling foods like mint, lime and rice in your diet and moderate your consumption of heating foods like garlic and tomatoes.
